Child Food Allergies: Relation to Others
Are food allergies may be related to others?
Yes, that’s what we call a cross-allergy, ie foods or environmental factors (pollen, dust mites, latex …) can share similar molecules, and if the patient is sensitized to this molecule may have symptoms in the presence of environmental factor ( aeroallergens) or versus the taking of food.
It has been described a cross-allergy dust mites and shrimp, that is allergic to dust mites may have symptoms when eating shrimp or shrimp-allergic be allergic to dust mites.
In patients allergic to pollen, a high percentage, usually lead to a raising of fruit, usually the group of the Rosaceae (peach, apple, almond, etc). The latex allergy can have symptoms from eating bananas, avocados, kiwi, chestnuts and figs.Delete the offending food is enough to overcome the allergy?
The only treatment we have today is the exclusion diet of such food that is eliminate the food source of symptoms in the diet leads to no symptoms. The problem is that often it is difficult to eliminate because it can be part of the composition of other foods, like milk in the form of lactate can be included in some sausages, or eggs, which can be part of some prepared crab sticks or baby eels. Hence the importance of prepared foods labeled in order to lead a proper diet.
