Eating oatmeal helps reduce artery inflammation

A group of U.S. experts sponsored by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) have found new reasons to eat healthy oats on a daily basis.
The nutritionist Mohsen Meydani, lead researcher on the effects of the compounds of oats called “avenantramidas” is also director of the Vascular Biology Laboratory, Jean Meyer Center for Human Nutrition Research on Aging and in previous studies had shown that antioxidants phenolic compounds in oats hinder the ability of blood cells from sticking to the walls of arteries.
