The menopause and obesity

According to a study conducted in Spain, 58% of menopausal women are overweight or obese, and 42% are within a normal weight. Another important fact is that nearly half smokes or has been a smoker and still consume 38% alcohol.

Data were obtained from the study “menopausal women from Spain” (Mumenesp) presented in Madrid which was based on a sample of women around the menopause_23.022 Spanish territory, with a mean age of 56.7 years, all examined by 160 gynecologists.

Other details that stand out, note that the Spanish reached menopause at 48.7 years, two years before the U.S. and the Nordics. Spanish women, those from the Canaries are those with the highest percentage of early menopause, with 40 years on average. The age of menopause is related to the number of children, age of the first rule and obesity.
