The immune system is responsible for protecting the body against agents that may cause damage.

Therefore, in the blood are white blood cells that although they live only a few hours, renewing all the time in the bone marrow that is located within a few bones and is responsible for producing them.

But when the space that occurs in bone marrow is invaded by malignant or atypical cells that grow in an unlimited, can not function normally and develop a cancer called leukemia.

This means that the leukemia or blood cancer occurs in the bone marrow because there are other cells that invade and do not allow to manufacture white blood cells. Leukemia is the term that describes the various types of cancer affecting the blood.

This disease in Mexico is the leading cause of cancer deaths in children, affects children and in recent years has greatly increased among adults.

Its name comes from Greek and means “white blood”, because the blood of people with this disease poses a white or pale pink, due to the high number of abnormal white blood cells that are the causes of cancer.

Leukemia affects all blood cells and bone marrow, but mainly the white blood cells and is characterized by an arrest in the maturation of the cells responsible for the formation of blood components at the same time that occur immature blood cells unchecked.

This proliferation of malignant cells originate in the bone marrow, responsible for distributing the blood to different body tissues.

Although the cause or causes are not known accurately, it is known that there are several predisposing factors such as genetic, immune, environmental factors and viruses.

Among the factors identified as triggers of leukemia is exposure to ionizing radiation, exposure to benzene, pesticides, or tar and the use of some cancer drugs and other medicines. Also, some genetic disorders such as Down syndrome, increases the risk.

A few decades ago this disease was fatal in a very high percentage, but scientific studies have enabled the development schemes more effective treatment, helping mortality rates have declined significantly.

IMPORTANT The contents of this note is informative and does not replace the medical diagnosis, so we are not responsible for their use.

In the prevention of osteoporosis plays a very important educational measures in order to enhance dietary and physical culture to the people. The most important points to note in this culture are the increased intake of calcium, reducing the consumption of toxic and regular moderate exercise.

Food:

-Calcium.
It is primarily found in milk and dairy products.
The recommended daily intake is 1 gram during the growth phase until reaching the peak bone mass. Postmenopausal women should eat 1.5 grams a day.
When calcium intake is insufficient may be given dietary supplements to be taken with meals to prevent kidney stone formation and improves its absorption.

-Vitamin D.
It is essential for the absorption and incorporation of calcium into bone
Obtained in part by food, but also is synthesized by the body with sun exposure.

Exercise.

The exercise involves a mechanical stimulus that promotes bone remodeling. Acting on it in 2 ways: first, the tension generated directly into the bone by the weight that has to endure to perform weight-bearing exercises, being the more effective the longitudinal forces to the bone (eg running drills, jumping, taconeo …); and, secondly, to do any exercise, the muscles contract and subject to other stresses to the bone by pulling on the insertion points.

Examples of exercises:
-Exercises in charge: walking, jumping, climbing stairs, jogging, aerobics, etc..

-Force exercises, high intensity, between 60 and 80% of maximum strength of the individual. Keep in mind that older people should be required not more than 60%. It should work on all the muscle groups that protect the bones of the legs and spine.

* Cleaning and Polishing of Surfaces and topically with Fluor.
Fluoride made by the dentist and crystallization produces a remineralization of tooth enamel, causing a significant increase in resistance of teeth to decay and decreases the adhesion of bacteria, improving the health of teeth and advisable encías.Es each six months.

* Pit and Fissure Sealants.
The Pit and fissure sealants reduce the incidence of caries in more than 60%, basically involves placing a resin on the surfaces of teeth masticantes later. With this seal the grooves and pits prevents the entry of bacteria that cause cavities.

* Teaching oral hygiene techniques.
This is achieved by reducing the colonies of bacteria that settle on the teeth that cause cavities and gum disease.

* Periodic consultation.
Visit your dentist regularly, this will help prevent oral problems and solve existing early, making it easier and less traumatic treatment.
