Tennis Elbow: Diagnosis
How does the doctor diagnose?
The doctor comes to this diagnosis by listening to the description of the patient’s complaints and doing a scan of the arm.
Tennis elbow by itself can not be seen on radiographs, but in some cases it may be necessary to get them to rule out injury to the inside of the elbow joint.
The doctor examines whether the area around the elbow is painful pressure. It also checks if resisted flexion of the elbow causes pain.
It is important that the physician rule out that the picture is caused by pressure on a nerve. In some rare cases there may be other causes of pain in the elbow and they should be discarded as well.
